Football Grounds Mayne - Tigers

I hope to give some brief information about football grounds in Brisbane. It's a pity I had not taken photos over the decades of all the grounds I have seen football played at. Since about 1956 when I first saw games at the Sandgate Football Club. I now have a digital camera so it's so easy to take photographs. I take a series of images and using The GIMP I make panoramic images by joining the images together.

Mayne - Everton AFC sign

This ground is actually the Everton Australian Football Club ground but there is an arrangement between the two clubs so Mayne Tigers can call it home. This is looking to the southeast. The southern goal posts can just be seen to the right of the red roof of a building. The scoreboard is not in the photo but is on the left side. The small club house is the building at about wing position as looking past the left goal post at this end. Mayne play in the AFLQ Division two. The photo on the right is the sign at the entrance.

History Book by Bob Gower

The history of the Mayne Football Club (Tigers) 1924 to 2011 by Mr. Bob Gower with the assistance from many other people is now on sale.

It's a big hard cover A4 size with 432 pages. Although I was never a member of the Mayne Footy Club or any footy club, this book is one that anyone should have on their shelves. Fantastic reading even for any “opposition” club player, followers or members. I and our son John witnessed many games at Beavis Oval and other grounds. I never knew what really happened to the Tigers when they “lost” their ground and big club house. Now I know! To purchase the book, contact Bob Gower, 'phone 3865 0914 or E-mail Bob Gower <robertgower@hotmail.com>.
